About Jon Hughes Construction

Jon Hughes Construction began operations in 1982 in San Diego, California. We moved our operation to Southern Oregon in 1989. As one of Grants Pass, Oregon's Residential, Civil and Industrial design-build general contractors, we serve clients in many industries.

We take pride in our reputation for quality construction, working in Airports, Libraries, Hospitals, Manufacturing and Industrial plants, Secure residential facilities, Governmental Evidence Facilities, Community parks and pools, Josephine County Courthouse Projects.

Jon Hughes Construction is also experienced in flood control, environmental site remediation, reclamation and landfill work, and has worked on some of our County's largest infrastructure projects.

Our areas of expertise also include building maintenance programs and development and environmental remediation.

Our staff includes experts in many skills fundamental to our type of construction capabilities. This allows us to self-perform major portions of the work on our projects.


Our project managers, superintendents, and key personnel move from project to project. They direct the activities of our highly mobile workforce, ensuring that our many clients receive the high quality service they come to expect from Jon Hughes Construction.

Our equipment managers use sophisticated computerized systems to track the location, status and maintenance history of each major piece of equipment. We maintain a fully equipped repair shop. Our excellent maintenance program provides one of the highest equipment utilization rates in the industry.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't pay out ANY money until a substantial amount of the material has been delivered,and then make only appropriate progress payments.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. It's not brain surgery, it isn't hard work, I am blessed to be able to get paid to do something just about anybody could do (with a little practice ;-)

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. It would be real helpful (if you are particular), to have a sketch or a picture of what you would like to have done.
Quite often, clients cannot adequately describe what is in their mind.... a picture is worth a thousand words...

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work is done as though I am doing it for JESUS,
You WILL be satisfied ! !

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I Love ALL aspects of the building trade. I get a thrill out of seeing a plan come together and the customer bragging to friends about my service.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Will you stay on my job until it is complete ???
Yes, If there is work to be done, I am on it.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. A purse snatcher ran through our construction site a few years ago , there were conflicting reports about how much damage his body incurred when he slipped and fell... (We were able to give the woman back her purse though ;-)

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I just wish people called me first, when I get called out on a job to finish or fix another contractors shoddy workmanship, I feel bad, the customer winds up paying for the mistakes of the first guy. It's a real mess ;-(

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. My Dad was a Carpenter, I learned to love it by proving to him that I could do it.
